This course is designed for anyone wishing to expand their knowledge of the basic foods and drinks that we all include in our everyday diet and how they can influence the health and wellbeing of ourselves as well as that of our families and friends
The two-day course will look more closely at the basic foods that make up our diet and why our body needs them. It will also explore various illnesses and conditions that may occur if a basic healthy diet is not achievable.
We will look at food and health and how poor diets can contribute to conditions such as diebetes, obesity and high cholesterol and how simple changes to a person's diet can improve health dramatically.
We continue with an analysis of participants' own eating habits, which can provide a useful reminder of where changes can be made.
We will explore what happens to food before it arrives onto the supermarket shelves and why reading the packaging on the food and drinks we buy is so important.
It will conclude with an opportunity to draw up a healthy eating plan for a person with specific conditions or illnesses of your choosing.
Throughout, the course will involve participants in practical activities, discussions and group exercises.
Next course dates: 9/10 December 2017, 9:30-4:00 each day
